Researcher and practitioner
My name is Dan and I'm a licensed Educational Psychologist and researcher. My research focuses on moral psychology, intergroup relations, and positive psychology. Recently, I have been developing efficient, short, scalable interventions, including single-session therapy (SST). I currently work at Netanya Academic College in Israel.
My mission is to integrate interdisciplinary research and practice to foster positive change for individuals and communities.
Lines of research
Moral Psychology
My research in moral psychology focuses on how individuals make judgments about right and wrong and evaluate members of different social groups, including political groups.
Positive Psychology
My research in positive psychology centers on Posttraumatic Growth (PTG), exploring how individuals experience meaningful psychological growth following adversity. I examine the mechanisms that foster resilience, personal strength, and positive transformation after trauma.
Martial-arts based interventions
My research examines how principles and tools from martial arts can be integrated into psychotherapy to enhance therapeutic processes and outcomes, particularly in areas such as emotional regulation and trauma treatment.
Single Session Therapy (SST)
Single Session Therapy (SST) is a focused and goal-oriented approach designed to create meaningful change in just one meeting. Among other things, I have developed models of SST and SSI (single session interventions) to tackle different issues or challenges, while adapting them to various populations with specific needs.
Gender Inequality Paradox
“The Gender Inequality Paradox is a line of research that examines the counterintuitive finding that, in countries with higher levels of gender equality, men and women differ in values, traits, and preferences. My research explores how increased social and economic equality may amplify, rather than reduce, gender differences in preferences and occupational outcomes.
About
My journey in psychology began far from the clinic – in the training hall. Years of intensive practice in martial arts, including a period of training in Korea, taught me the power of connecting body and mind. A long period of study abroad in different institutions has given me a wide toolbox for helping in complex situations. Over time I have continued to learn and to connect different areas of knowledge, both within psychology and beyond it. With time I have specialized in working with children, adolescents, and their parents who cope with a broad range of difficulties. Among other things, I integrate tools from martial arts in order to create a powerful experience that enables meaningful change. I am a certified Taekwondo instructor at the level of master (4th dan) by the world federation. I also apply principles of single-session therapy, focusing on maximizing impact even in brief encounters.
